Train vs. vehicle collision at N Mississippi and Arlington in Ada kills 1

ADA, OK – One person died Tuesday afternoon when a train struck a vehicle at a busy intersection in north-central Pontotoc County, reports KTEN 10.
The incident happened just after 3pm. on the railroad tracks that cross the intersection of North Mississippi and East Arlington Street, which is just northwest of East Central University in the city of Ada.
It’s not yet clear why the vehicle entered the intersection concurrent with the train. Police say the driver of the vehicle was headed south on North Mississippi when the collision occurred, killing one person.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity to the public.
Officials closed the intersection until later that evening while crews worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
