OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A truck driver died on Sunday morning in a chain-reaction crash involving 22 vehicles along the interstate in Oklahoma City, reports News 9.

The incident happened early Sunday morning on I-40 near Reno Avenue, which is just south of Douglass Park and east of the Greyhound bus station.

Of the 22 vehicles involved in the crash, seven were 18-wheelers, while the remaining 15 were passenger vehicles.

The victim in the accident was driving a semi-truck when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a barrier on the side of the interstate, landing in the river. The truck driver ultimately died from injuries sustained in the accident.

In addition to the fatality, multiple people went to the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Police aren’t yet certain how the pile up started, but they say that wet roads may have been a factor.

A full investigation is underway.
