ELLIS CO., OK – A truck driver died Sunday morning after crashing his 18-wheeler along a rural roadway in southwest Ellis County, reports News on 6.

The incident happened around 6:50 a.m. on the southbound side of South County Road 175, which is just east of the Oklahoma and Texas border and west of Arnett.

The investigation indicates that the driver lost control of the semi at a bend in the road, at which point the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

Emergency crews worked to extricate the driver, who was ultimately declared deceased at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified the victim as George Edward Doan.

Police say Doan may have been distracted at the time of the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
