Trucker falls asleep, causing fatal crash on I-35 near OK-33

GUTHRIE, OK – One person died last Thursday in a single-vehicle collision involving a box truck in southern Logan County, reports OKC Fox 25.
Just after 2:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to an accident in a construction zone near I-35 and OK-33 in the city of Guthrie. This is about 33 miles north of Oklahoma City.
Police say the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and hit an empty Oklahoma Department of Transportation truck in a work zone.
The passenger in the truck, who has not yet been identified by authorities, sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the box truck, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Bush, did not sustained injuries in the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
