Tulsa PD arrests driver that caused fatal crash at 71st and Yale

TULSA, OK – Police have shared additional details regarding a crash that killed a pedestrian Tuesday at a busy intersection in southeast Tulsa, reports Fox 23 News.

The crash happened in the afternoon at East 71st Street and South Yale Avenue when the driver of a white westbound Honda failed to heed a stop sign and entered the path of a maroon Kia Optima. The collision pushed the Honda over the center median where the vehicle hit two panhandlers.

One of the pedestrians died, and the other was hospitalized. The name of the deceased is still pending release.

Authorities have since arrested the 28-year-old driver of the Honda, identified as Nicholas Stewart, on a charge of negligent homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
