Two people, including one child seriously injured in Carter County collision

CARTER COUNTY, OK – Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol have reported multiple injuries following a collision near Lone Grove Thursday night.
According to KXII, the incident occurred within the eastbound lanes of State Highway 53 several miles north of Lone Grove at about 9:15 p.m. Officials say a pickup truck swerved off of the road and struck a tree head-on.
Of the three occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash, two were airlifted to a local hosptial. Early McCourt Jr. and his 4-year-old nephew sustained serious injures as a result of the crash. The boy’s father who was also in the vehilce did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
Information regarding what caused the driver to lose control of the pickup truck is still under investigation.
