Two Students Dead, Four Injured After Tragic Truck Crash

Two students died and four others suffered injuries after horrific accident near Moore High School, a February 5 article of The Washington Post reported.
The incident happened on February 3 around 3:30 PM near Moore High School’s sports complex. Six students who were members of a cross-country team were struck by a red pickup truck. 57-year-old Max Leroy Townsend’s truck hit two other vehicles before finally stopping.
17-year-old senior Rachel Freeman was one of the team’s top runners who died after the crash. Also, Yuridia Martinez was pronounced deceased on arrival at the hospital in critical condition.
A school spokeswoman said Kolby Crum is in critical condition at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Also, Shiloh Hutchison and Joseph White were reported to be in fair condition while Ashton Baza was released Monday night. There was a seventh student with the group but was not injured.
Townsend was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of the accident and first-degree manslaughter. Also, authorities believed Townsend was intoxicated while driving.
