TULSA, OK – An Uber driver is facing charges of first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon after he reportedly struck and killed a passenger with his car on Friday, reports KFOR.

The incident occurred at about 1:40 a.m. at 6510 East 71st Street in Tulsa.

The accused, Omar Baabbad, allegedly struck an unidentified passenger in a parking lot after he and the man had a fight inside his vehicle. The passenger got out of the car and began to walk away, which was when Baabbad supposedly struck him with his vehicle.

The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and later died.

Baabbad claims that the victim threatened to shoot him.

Witnesses at the scene of the incident say that it was the victim who felt threatened and attempted to leave. They say that while the passenger told Baabbad that he had a gun, he never displayed any weapon.

Police did not find a gun at the scene of the crime.

Baabbad is being held at the Tulsa County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree murder.
