Update: 12-year-old dead after being hit by pickup while sledding

BROKEN ARROW, OK – Authorities have revealed that the 12-year-old boy who was hit by a pickup truck while sledding in Broken Arrow on Thursday has died of his injuries, according to KOCO News.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash happened in the 300 block of Albany Street near Hillside Drive at around 5:20 p.m., as a 12-year-old boy was sledding down a hill. The child reportedly failed to stop before entering the road, and was then struck by the driver of a pickup truck.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

In a similar incident, a second 12-year=old child was also struck by a driver in Broken Arrow while sledding, according to the report. The child was dragged an undisclosed distance before finally stopping.

That child was brought to the hospital to receive treatment for what appeared to be minor injuries.

The location and time of the second collision was not immediately available.

The accidents remain under investigation at this time.
