NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Impairment was suspected in a fatal crash that took place at a Northwest Oklahoma City pond on Sunday, a KOCO update reveals.

The collision occurred after 12:30 a.m. on the 12600th block of Heritage Oaks Drive. Oklahoma City Police determined that an 18-year-old adult was impaired and speeding when they lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a pond.

Three individuals were able to escape the submerged vehicle, while one person, later identified as 23-year-old Derriana Hall, was entrapped.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department’s diving and rescue team freed Hall.

EMS crews transported Hall to a hospital, where she later died.

Oklahoma Police arrested the alleged impaired driver on suspicion of second-degree murder and aggravated driving under the influence. Police booked the driver into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

Police are withholding the driver’s name until formal charges are filed.
