Update: Man charged in connection to fatal OK-33 crash

EDMOND, OK – A man has been charged in connection to a fatal car crash at OK 33 and Pennsylvania Ave that killed Barbara Heflin, 79, on January 19, Guthrie News Page reports.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Mark Gellenbeck, 32, was behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 on westbound OK 33 prior to the crash.

As Gallenbeck approached the intersection with Pennsylvania Ave, he attempted to reach for something in the passenger seat, causing his vehicle to drift into the eastbound lanes and collide with Heflin’s Chevrolet Impala.

First responders pronounced Heflin dead at the scene of the accident around 10:30 a.m.

Gellenbeck’s bond is set at $5000.
