Vehicle vs. semi crash kills 1 on I-40 in north-central Pottawatomie County

SHAWNEE, OK – A 70-year-old man died Sunday night in north-central Pottawatomie County after an 18-wheeler collided with his vehicle along the interstate, reports KOCO News 5.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. along I-40 in Shawnee, which is just east of Oklahoma City.
Police say that the victim was driving a 2009 Toyota Matrix eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle and spun into the center of I-40. An eastbound Freightliner semitrailer then rear-ended the Toyota.
The force of the collision threw the unrestrained driver from his vehicle, and he died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
No other injuries have been discussed in connection to the accident.
