Woman killed after being struck by runaway trailer on OK-76

CARTER COUNTY, OK – An 84-year-old woman was killed in a collision involving a trailer on OK-76 in Carter County.
According to KFOR, a driver in a Ford F150 was headed southbound on OK-76 with an 18-foot double axle utility trailer carrying a smoker. The trailer separated from the truck’s hitch and traveled into the northbound lanes.
Gwendolyn Spellman, 84, was headed north on OK-76 in a Chevrolet Sonic when her vehicle was hit by the trailer. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition but unfortunately died on Feb. 5 from her injuries.
The incident is still being investigated.
