Wrong-way crash involving semi on US-287 near Boise City kills 1

CIMARRON CO., OK – A 57-year-old woman died Saturday in a wrong-way crash involving a semi along the highway in central Cimarron County, reports MyHighPlains.Com.

Emergency teams reported to Highway 287 near E0160 Road just north of Boise City Airport and on the far west side of the panhandle.

Police say that a southbound Ford Fusion entered the northbound side of the highway and collided head-on with a northbound 18-wheeler. The collision caused both vehicles to travel into a ditch along the highway.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Laura Lee Galavotti of Colorado, died at the scene.

The truck driver was not hurt in the accident.

There’s no word yet about what might have caused Galavotti’s vehicle to cross the center line.

A full investigation is underway.
