Wrong-way crash on OK-33 near Perkins kills 1, injures 1

PAYNE CO., OK – Authorities have shared additional details regarding a major crash that killed one man and hurt another in southwest Payne County on Tuesday, reports KOCO News 5.
Police have since determined that the crash, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. on OK-33 just west of Perkins, involved a 2012 Ford Fusion and a 2024 Ram pickup truck.
The preliminary investigation indicates that for unknown reasons, the driver of the eastbound Ford entered the westbound side of the highway and collided head-on with the eastbound Ram.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 19-year-old Larry D. Birdine III, died at the scene of the wreck.
Medics transported the other driver to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
