Wrong-way crash on US-270 near Watonga kills 1, injures 1

BLAINE CO., OK – A man died, and a woman sustained injuries Tuesday in a wrong-way collision involving a semi along the highway in west-central Blaine County.
According to 96.5 KECO, the two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on US-270 near County Road North 2470. This is between Nobscot and Watonga and about 85 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound 2016 Nissan Altima entered the westbound side of US-270 and collided head-on with a Kenworth 18-wheeler.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 51-year-old Ronald Irvin, died at the scene of the accident.
Following extensive extrication efforts, medics airlifted a female passenger from the Nissan to an area hospital with internal injuries.
The driver of the semi did not sustain injuries in the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
