CATOOSA, OK – Two men died early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way collision along the highway on the east side of Catoosa, reports Fox 23 News.
The accident happened on US-412 near 265th East Avenue, which is east of OK-364 and west of Gregory.
Police say that a westbound driver entered the eastbound lanes of US-412 and collided head-on with another vehicle. At least one additional vehicle also became involved in the accident when they could not avoid hitting the first two vehicles.
Both drivers from the first two vehicles died in the crash. Authorities have not yet released their names to the public.
It’s not yet clear if anyone else required hospitalization for injuries associated with the accident, which police say may have been caused partly by foggy conditions and low visibility.
Officials closed the eastbound side of US-412 for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
