One man was injured after a drunken driver going the wrong way on the interstate crashed into him.
According to officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, officers received a call about a driver in a red SUV driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Choctaw Road. Oklahoma County sheriff’s deputies pursued the driver. Deputies said he was going the speed limit while going the wrong way.
The driver crashed into another vehicle just west of the McLoud exit off I-40. The driver of the other vehicle saw the SUV’s headlights and swerved, avoiding a direct head-on collision, authorities say.
Deputies determined the driver of the SUV to be drunk and not injured. The driver of the other vehicle was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
