1 killed, 2 injured in 2-vehicle crash at US-77 and Coleman Rd

KAY CO., OK – A two-vehicle accident along the highway in south-central Kay County killed one person on Friday night, reports KOCO News 5.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight at US-77 and Coleman Road, which is just north of Ponca City and west of Jaycee Park.
Police say that the driver of a 2009 Pontiac failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection and entered the path of a 2023 Hyundai. After the two vehicles collided, the Pontiac ignited, killing the driver at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Shannon Laird.
The driver and passenger from the Hyundai received treatment at an area hospital for minor injuries.
