2 killed in solo crash on OK-6 at N 1770 Rd near Sweetwater

BECKHAM CO., OK – Two people died Thursday afternoon following a single-vehicle accident along the highway in northwest Beckham County, reports Fox 25.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of OK-6 and North 1770 Road, which is just east of Sweetwater and about two miles west of Oklahoma City.
Police say that a westbound 2001 Ford Ranger lost control while attempting to pass another car, left the highway, and rolled. One of the occupants in the Ford was thrown from the vehicle during the wreck.
The unrestrained driver, later identified as 77-year-old William Pierce, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
A female passenger died after she was airlifted to an Elk City hospital. Authorities identified her as 73-year-old Blenda Lea Pierce.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
An investigation is underway.
