DELAWARE CO., OK – A woman died on Thursday afternoon in a wrong-way crash on the highway south of Jay, reports KTUL 8 Tulsa.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. on US-59 near CR-445, which is just northwest of BC Unity Campus.

The investigation indicates that the 45-year-old driver from Concord lost control of her northbound vehicle on a curve and veered into the southbound lane. She was then struck by a 1999 Ford F-250.

The victim, identified as Rhonda J. Burke, died after transport to a local hospital.

The driver of the Ford did not require hospitalization.

Police say that speed may have been the greatest factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
