OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — One person died Thursday afternoon after a multi-vehicle wreck on Turner Turnpike in north Jones, according to KFOR.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the fatal collision occurred on the eastbound lanes near mile marker 143, east of North Hiwassee Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates one vehicle hit another, which sent the second vehicle crashing into a third. Officials said the driver of the third vehicle fled the scene moments after.
The driver of the first vehicle suffered serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Investigators have since determined the cause to be “unsafe speed” for the conditions at the time.
