GUTHRIE, OK – Medics transported two people to the hospital Wednesday after a head-on collision involving two vehicle along the highway in Guthrie, reports Fox 25 KOKH.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. on OK-105 just east of South Douglas Boulevard, which is just northeast of Country Club Lake.
The investigation indicates that the airbags unexpectedly deployed for no reason in an eastbound 2015 Volkswagen, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car then veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with another vehicle.
The 73-year-old driver of the Volkswagen sustained non-life-threatening injuries, for which she was hospitalized.
The 18-year-old driver of the second vehicle also received treatment at the local hospital but has since been released. A passenger from her vehicle was not hurt in the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
