LATIMER CO., OK – A 68-year-old man died and two others went to the hospital Thursday after four vehicles collided along the highway in central Latimer County, reports Fox 23 News.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on US-270 near Wilburton, which is just south of Robbers Cave State Park.
The investigation thus far indicates that an eastbound vehicle veered into the westbound lane and collided with an oncoming pickup truck. Two other vehicles also struck the pickup truck in the roadway. The force of these collisions threw the driver of the pickup and his passenger from their vehicle.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Donny Gene Shadwick, died at the scene of the accident.
Shadwick’s 31-year-old passenger went to the hospital with head injuries, and the driver of one other vehicle was also hospitalized.
A full investigation is underway.
