Grass fire causes multi-vehicle crash on I-44 in Chickasha, killing 3

CHICKASHA, OK – Three people died on Thursday afternoon following a major multi-vehicle collision along the interstate in Chickasha, reports KFOR News 4.
The incident happened in the early afternoon along the H.E. Bailey Turnpike at mile marker 76, which is on the southwest outskirts of the city.
Officials say a grass fire may have caused the collision. Photos taken at the scene indicate that at least four vehicles were involved, all of which sustained substantial damage.
Three people died in the crash, and there may have been additional injuries. Authorities have not yet identified the victims.
All lanes of I-44 in the vicinity of the wreck were closed for a period of time while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
