2 killed in crash involving hit-and-run driver on I-44 near SW 29th

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A driver and a passenger died early Tuesday in a two-part accident involving a hit-and-run vehicle along the interstate, reports KOCO News 5. 

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on I-44 near Southwest 29th Street, which is just north of Woodson Park and the Industrial Heights area of Oklahoma City.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a light pole. The driver died at the scene after the vehicle overturned.

The passenger also died after running into oncoming traffic on the interstate. The vehicle that hit the second victim did not stop to render aid or to speak with police.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.

A full investigation is underway.
