OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – At least three people went to the hospital Sunday after a multi-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in north-central Oklahoma City, reports KOCO News 5.

Authorities responded to the intersection of Memorial Road and North Pennsylvania Avenue just before 5:40 p.m. after reports of a wrong-way accident involving eight vehicles.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a pickup truck entered the wrong side of the roadway and crashed into seven other vehicles. Photos and video taken at the scene indicate that the crash may have occurred as a chain reaction.

Three people were critically injured, and several others sustained injuries for which they did not require hospitalization.

Drivers likely encountered significant delays in the area of Memorial and North Penn while emergency teams assisted the victims and worked to clear the wreckage.

A full investigation is underway. Our team of news writers will post updates to the blog if we learn more about the cause of the accident.
