WILSON, OK – Oklahoma Highway Patrol said speed was a factor behind a deadly rollover crash that happened in Wilson on Saturday, KTEN reports.
OHP said the incident happened at 7 p.m. on Faith Hill Road. A 43-year-old man, identified as Terry Josey, was operating his Can-Am UTV at a high rate of speed, which caused him to lose control of it, drift off the road, and crash into a tree.
The UTV overturned several times and ejected Josey’s passenger, 35-year-old Joseph Wheeler.
Wheeler, from Ringler, unfortunately died from his injuries at the scene, while Josey, from Healdton, survived.
Medical helicopter personnel airlifted Josey to an Oklahoma City hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
Wilson police asked OHP to lead the investigation.
