MUSKOGEE, OK – A 35-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Friday night when a vehicle struck him at a busy Muskogee intersection, reports Fox 23 News.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of East Okmulgee Avenue and Spaulding Boulevard, which is just northwest of Spaulding Park.

Police say that 24-year-old Caleb Deshazer allegedly struck the pedestrian near the intersection before fleeing the scene. Medics transported the victim, identified as Jacob Reynolds, to an area hospital. Reynolds died not long after transport.

By Saturday, authorities had located and arrested Deshazer for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
