1 injured after running into path of semi on I-40 in Newalla

NEWALLA, OK – One person sustained injuries Friday when a vehicle struck them along the interstate in the Newalla area, reports KFOR News 4.

The incident occurred sometime in the afternoon near the intersection of I-40 and South Peebly Road. This is just north of Ridgeview Estates.

Police say that a driver exited their vehicle and ran into traffic after crashing along the interstate. An 18-wheeler struck the individual, whom officials are now saying may have been suicidal.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver was not hurt in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
