BLACKWELL, OK – Police reported multiple injuries linked to a four-vehicle collision that happened Friday afternoon in west-central Kay County.
According to KOCO News 5, the accident happened in the afternoon on I-35 near mile marker 219.5 in the city of Blackwell. This is about 100 miles north of Oklahoma City.
Authorities say an 18-wheeler rear-ended a pickup truck, spurring a chain reaction involving two additional vehicles. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the pickup truck slowed down while experiencing decreased visibility caused by a dust storm.
Six people were hurt in the wreck. It’s unclear how many of them required hospitalization.
A full investigation is underway.
