Crash involving deer, 2 cars in Mayes Co. kills 1, hurts 2

MAYES CO., OK- A man died, and two people sustained injuries Monday in a collision involving two vehicles in west-central Mayes County, reports News 9.
The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. on South 430 Road just south of West 500 Road. This is just west of Pryor and about 43 miles northeast of Tulsa.
Police say that a southbound vehicle struck a second vehicle that was stopped along South 430 Road after hitting a deer.
The collision pinned a 36-year-old pedestrian that was helping at the scene of the initial accident and injured two others. The 36-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities identified him as Cody Prior.
Medics airlifted the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle that hit the deer to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The teen’s mother went to the hospital with minor injuries.
The elderly driver of the vehicle that struck the disabled car did not require hospitalization.
