OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A Texas man was arrested last Thursday afternoon after crashing a pickup truck into the entrance of a casino in northeast Oklahoma City, reports KOCO.
The collision occurred at the main entrance to Remington Park, located on Remington Drive off North Martin Luther King Avenue.
Authorities said another driver had witnessed an erratic pickup truck and stopped to alert a deputy, who was directing traffic on Interstate 44. While the witness was stopped next to the deputy, the reckless driver sped by, prompting a police chase. However, because the driver was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, officials decided to terminate the pursuit.
Investigators learned the pickup truck, which had been reported stolen, collided with another vehicle moments before speeding past the deputy. Shortly after the chase ended, the vehicle went on to crash into the front of a building at the casino’s entrance.
The reckless driver, a Texas resident, was arrested after initially trying to flee the scene on foot.
At this time, police have not indicated any serious injuries in the event.
An investigation was underway to determine why the driver was traveling at excess speeds.
