ADAIR COUNTY, OK — A 52-year-old woman died Tuesday morning after a crash involving a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 59 near Cherry Tree, according to KFOR.
The fatal accident happened near the intersection with Bethel Road, or East 860 Road, in an area south of Stilwell. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 8:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was behind the wheel of a 2010 Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound when, for reasons still unknown, the car veered past the center line. Officials said the Hyundai then struck a semi-truck in the opposing lane.
The driver of the Hyundai was rushed to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
It was unclear whether the driver of the semi was hurt.
