JONES, OK – An elderly man was hurt Friday night when his ATV crashed into a body of water in east-central Oklahoma County, reports News 9.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. south of I-44 and near Westminster Road in the city of Jones. This is about 20 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.

Police say that the 76-year-old victim’s ATV rolled and landed in water after he became distracted and lost control of the vehicle. The man then became pinned by the ATV in the water and nearly drowned.

Emergency teams pulled the victim from the water and performed lifesaving measures before transporting him to an area hospital.

Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s current condition. They say the man was feeding his flock of sheep while operating the ATV when it crashed.

A full investigation is underway.
