Fatality reported in auto-train crash near US-69 in Adair

MAYES CO., OK – One person died, and another sustained injuries Sunday in a collision involving an SUV and a train in northern Mayes County, reports 102.3 KRMG.
The collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the railroad crossing near the intersection of West 430 Road and US-69. This is just south of Adair and about 50 miles northeast of Tulsa.
Police say that the driver of an SUV ran a stop sign and entered the path of a train.
Medics transported a passenger from the SUV to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The 16-year-old driver of the SUV succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities have not released her name to the public.
It’s unclear if the collision caused the train to derail.
