OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A man was hospitalized Friday night after being hit by a vehicle while at the scene of a minor crash near Warr Acres, according to News9.
According to the victim’s sister, the man had driven to the area of Northwest Expressway and MacArthur Boulevard to help her after she was involved in a fender-bender.
After the man had parked and exited his own vehicle, he crossed the roadway to retrieve his sister’s dog. As the man walked the dog back across the expressway, the dog slipped out of his collar as a vehicle approached and then appeared to hit the animal. Shortly after, the man was hit by another car, which sent him 30 feet from the crash site.
First responders rushed the man to OU Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Officials said the patient, who is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday, is expected to recover.
On Sunday night, the dog, who had gone missing following the crash, was found safe.
