OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — An Edmond Police Department officer was critically injured last Friday when a DUI suspect struck his motorcycle during a chase in Edmond, according to KOCO.

The wreck occurred on a span of South Boulevard between Memorial Road and 33rd Street, near Oklahoma Christian University.

Authorities said the suspected intoxicated driver was making a U-turn during the pursuit and hit the motorcycle officer, causing him to be thrown from the bike.

Medics rushed the officer to OU Medical Center, where as of Monday, he remains in critical condition while on “maximum life support.”

The fleeing driver, who was said to have caused multiple other crashes before the motorcycle crash, was also transported to a local hospital. No details on the extent of his injuries have been released.

Investigators noted that at one point during the pursuit, the officer fired a shot at the suspect but missed. No other details have been shared at this time.
