OKC PD arrests man in connection with fatal hit-and-run crash in NW OKC

NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City police arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on Monday.
The collision happened before 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Expressway and North Meridian Avenue, according to News9. Police determined that the suspect, a 25-year-old man, crashed his vehicle into a woman riding a scooter.
The scooter rider unfortunately succumbed to her injuries, and the male suspect, later identified as John Michael Chavez, fled the scene.
Police located Chavez and took him into custody on complaints of second-degree murder, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and aggravated driving under the influence.
No official criminal charges have been filed against Chavez at this time.
