Solo crash on N 440 Rd near Strang kills 17-year-old, injures two others

MAYES CO., OK – A single-vehicle crash in northeast Mayes County killed a 17-year-old and injured two other teens on Tuesday, reports KTUL News 8.

The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. on N 440 Road near the city of Strang. This is about 50 miles northeast of Tulsa.

The preliminary investigation indicates that for unknown reasons, the teen driver of a Honda Civic lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle then hit multiple trees and an embankment.

Crews worked to extricate the driver, who died at the scene of the accident.

Medics transported two teen passengers to the hospital, one of whom sustained critical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
