Two-vehicle crash at US-177 and I-40 in Shawnee kills 1, injures 1

SHAWNEE, OK – A 78-year-old woman died Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in north-central Pottawatomie County.
According to News 9, the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of US-177 and Interstate 40 on the northwestern outskirts of Shawnee.
Authorities have not yet commented on the cause of the accident. They say two vehicles were involved and that one of the drivers required extrication after a lengthy entrapment. This person died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities identified her as Diana Srader.
The other driver went to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Drivers likely encountered road closures and delays in the area of the accident while crews worked at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
