OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A 42-year-old man was arrested for his suspected role in a crash Sunday that killed another man in northwest Oklahoma City, reports News9.

The fatal collision occurred on Northwest 63rd Street near Peniel Avenue and just northwest of Warr Acres, on December 4, at around 8:00 p.m.

Surveillance video recovered during the investigation indicates the victim, a 31-year-old man from Mexico, was driving a pickup truck and the suspect was driving a separate passenger car. Both drivers were traveling at a high rate of speed and appeared to be racing each other. At one point, the driver of the pickup truck lost control and veered into the other lane. The pickup then collided with the other car, ran off the roadway, and came to rest overturned in a nearby front yard.

The driver of the other car was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of driving under the influence and first-degree manslaughter.

An investigation is expected to be carried out for multiple more weeks before being referred to the Oklahoma County District Attorney. The suspect’s blood draw results were pending as of Tuesday evening.
