Vehicle strikes, injures cyclist at E 61st and S Peoria in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A vehicle struck and seriously injured a bicyclist Friday night at a busy intersection in the South Peoria area of Tulsa, reports News on 6.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. at East 61st Street and South Peoria Avenue, which is just east of Johnson Park and the Arkansas River.

Police say that the victim was struck in the intersection after neglecting to heed a red light.

Medics transported the cyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver involved in the accident stopped at the scene to render aid and speak with authorities.

A full investigation is underway.
