Vehicle strikes, kills man on bike along US-69 near McAlester

PITTSBURG CO., OK – A man died Tuesday in an accident involving a bike and a vehicle along a highway in central Pittsburg County, reports Fox 23 News.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 1:05 a.m. in the area of US-69 and Chambers Road. This is just southwest of McAlester and northeast of Savanna.

Police say a vehicle struck and killed a 26-year-old man on his bike, killing him at the scene. Authorities identified the deceased as Gage Ogiela of Savanna.

The preliminary investigation indicates that for unknown reasons, Ogiela was parked with his bike on the highway at the time of the crash.

The driver involved in the crash did stop to render aid and to speak with officials.

The investigation is ongoing.
