DURANT, OK – A 41-year-old motorcyclist died Monday in a single-vehicle accident along the highway in northwest Bryan County, reports KXII 12.
The incident happened in the afternoon along OK-48 just north of Durant. This is north of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and about 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.
Police say the motorcyclist lost control of his bike when the back wheel malfunctioned, causing the motorcycle to leave the highway and crash. The impact ejected the motorcycle operator, who has been identified as Russel Reno of Durant.
Medics transported Reno to an area hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.
A full investigation is underway to determine what might have caused the biker’s wheel to lock up.
