Wrong-way crash on OK-1 near Big Cedar kills 1 motorcyclist, injures another

LE FLORE CO., OK – A 51-year-old Texas man died Tuesday after a crash involving two motorcycles along a highway in southeastern Le Flore County, reports Amarillo Globe-News.

The accident happened just north of the city of Big Cedar on Highway 1. This is just west of the Oklahoma border with Arkansas.

Police say that the operator of a westbound 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle entered the eastbound side of Highway 1 and collided head-on with an eastbound 2016 BMW motorcycle.

The operator of the eastbound motorcycle, identified as Brian Rhodes of Amarillo, died after transport to a Fort Smith hospital.

Medics air-lifted the wrong-way driver to a Little Rock hospital with critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
