LOGAN COUNTY, OK — Three people were injured, one critically, Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on South Douglas Boulevard near southeast Guthrie, reports Guthrie News Page.
The accident happened at the intersection with Simmons Road at around 12:32 p.m.
An early investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol indicates a 43-year-old Luther man was driving a 2015 Ford F-350 pickup truck southbound on Douglas Boulevard. A 44-year-old Oklahoma City man was driving a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck northbound at the same time when he veered off the roadway. Officials said as the semi overcorrected, it collided with the F-350.
The driver of the F-350 was taken to OU Medical Center with “external injuries” to his neck, arm, leg and trunk. He was listed in fair condition.
One passenger in the F-350, a 22-year-old Luther man, suffered critical injuries to his neck, trunk and leg, and was airlifted to OU Medical Center.
A juvenile passenger in the the F-350 was not reported hurt.
No injuries to the semi driver were reported, but his passenger, a 23-year-old Oklahoma City resident, was transported to OU Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. They have since been released.
A section of the road was closed for about four hours following the wreck, but was reopened by 3:50 p.m.
An investigation was in progress, but the OHP said the semi driver’s “inattention” caused the accident.
