Head-on wreck along US-283 near Cheyenne killed 2, hurt 1

ROGER MILLS CO., OK – A wrong-way crash along the highway in central Roger Mills County killed two people and hurt another last Sunday, reports News 9.
The accident happened in the morning on US-283, just south of Cheyenne. This is about 134 miles west of Oklahoma City.
Police say that a northbound driver lost control of her vehicle, entered the southbound side of the highway, and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle.
The 39-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle died at the scene. Authorities identified her as Misti D. Morris.
A passenger from the northbound vehicle, identified as as 24-year-old Thomas J. Stampul, also died at the scene.
Medics transported the wrong-way driver, identified as 59-year-old Rene G. De La Cruz, to an area hospital with critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
