Elderly woman killed in crash with semi on US-81 in Chickasha

CHICKASHA, OK – An 83-year-old woman died several days after a head-on collision along US-81 in Chickasha last Friday, reports The Express-Star.
The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of US-81 and County Road 1300, which is just north of Chickasha Municipal Airport.
Police say that the driver of an SUV, identified as 80-year-old Joey Tannehill, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with an 18-wheeler.
Medics transported the victim, who was a passenger in the SUV, to the hospital, where she later died. Authorities identified the victim as Wanda Tannehill.
The driver of the SUV went to the hospital with critical injuries, while the truck driver was not hurt in the crash.
It’s still not clear what might have caused Tannehill to enter the wrong side of the highway A full investigation is underway.
