Multi-car crash on I-44 at Western in OKC kills 1, injures 5

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A multi-vehicle collision along the interstate in north-central Oklahoma City killed one person and injured several others Friday morning.
According to KOCO News 5, the fatality accident occurred after 2 a.m. on the westbound side of I-44 at North Western Avenue near the Historic Brookhaven neighborhood.
Police haven’t yet shared the cause or circumstances of the crash. They say that at least two vehicles and six people were involved.
One driver died at the scene of the wreck. Authorities identified her as 23-year-old Katelyn Callahan of Oklahoma City.
Medics transported five people to area hospitals, three of them with critical injuries and two of them in stable condition. Two of the victims were teen girls.
Officials closed the interstate in the area of the collision until at least 4 a.m. while emergency crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
